The Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Public Service or Educational Building’ category of this year’s South West LABC Building Excellence Awards.
The two-storey brick and copper extension named The Long Bridge Wing references the historic manufacturing industries of Barnstaple as well as responding to the aesthetic of the Grade II listed 19th century museum which it sits alongside. The extension provides new gallery space which houses the museum’s large social history collection, an education room and a shop.
Well done to a great team that included North Devon Council, Currie and Brown, Momentum, Scribble & Nonsense and Taz Pollard Ceramics.
Winners will be announced in September 2020.
