We are thrilled to announce that the Spitfire Hangar at Brabazon has won the Retrofit category at the CESW awards for 2026.
The project features the retrofit of an existing Grade II Listed hangar and its conversion to a new community hub, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions, running costs, and retaining the historic character of the building. It was led by Andrew Kemp (Associate & Head of Sustainable Design) with support from Alastair Carswell (Director), and we would like to extend our gratitude to our collaborators who also made the project happen and supported us with the award submission (*full list below).
We are also excited to see that the project has been shortlisted in the Adaptive Reuse into Mixed Use category for the AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards for 2026. More can be read about this here.
