Winning submission to English Partnerships for the redevelopment of two significant city centre sites to create a sustainable mixed-use scheme of nearly 400 dwellings, a community and health centre, retail and office space.

These proposals form a key element in the regeneration strategy of Gloucester, bringing much needed life back into the city centre.

The two sites were formerly the Brunswick Road Campus for Gloscat which has now moved elsewhere. Based on an earlier masterplan, it is organised around a highly permeable pedestrian friendly public realm that links the site into the wider area of public routes.

The residential accommodation includes houses and apartments with the affordable provision pepper-potted about the scheme.

The sustainability strategy includes passive solar design, exposed thermal mass, high levels of insulation, biofuel/biomass and rainwater harvesting, with a commitment to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and an equivalent of Ecohomes ‘Excellent’ under the new Code for Sustainable Homes.
