FMA have been working on the detailed design of a large mixed use project in Bath, comprising two new residential and student residential buildings and the extension and improvements to an existing 1920s building.
The Scala building was originally built for use as a cinema and has more recently been converted to a Co-op store and dance studio. The existing uses will remain in the historic building with a refurbished Co-Op store on the ground floor and studio space above and a new extension constructed to accommodate student residential space.
We are working with a mix of existing retained structure and new build elements with a timber frame structure – it’s great to see this flying up and the first building taking shape already!
