Working with YTL Developments UK Ltd, FMA have submitted a detailed planning and LBC application for the change of use and conversion of the Grade II Listed Hangar 16U at Filton Airfield, enabling its transformation into a mix of new uses: marketing and general offices, café and flexible space. The building will sit as the centre piece to a new public square that will form part of the early phases of residential development at the airfield. Hangar 16U, built circa 1917 for the Royal Flying Corps, is a simple structure with thin brick walls, distinctive buttressed piers and notably uses the prefabricated Belfast roof truss system developed during the austerity years at the end of WWI.
