The refreshing and upgrading of Bristol’s original Homeless Night Shelter.

The Julian Trust Homeless Night Shelter has been run by faithful volunteers of the Julian Trust for over thirty years to deliver meals for up to 100 people every night and sleeping accommodation for around twenty-four homeless folk. The Trust have occupied a redundant bus service depot since it began work with the homeless in 1986.

Ferguson Mann Architects worked over a two-year period on the delivery, in two phases of a new catering kitchen, associated servery areas and a modernisation of wash and shower rooms designed to meet the robust detailing requirements set by the board of Trustees. The new catering facilities incorporated new volunteer parking areas, secure refuse and cycle storage.

The second phase of works, the catering kitchen and washroom works were delivered in a tight ten-week contract over the summer of 2018.
